Obituary for COX

Melba G. Cox, age 94, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 27, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Cox; parents, Edgar and Martha Stautzenberger; brothers, K.C. and Edgar Stautzenberger, Jr.; and sister, Flo Turek. Melba is survived by her son, Dr. Glendel Cox and wife, Sylvia; granddaughters, Dana Cox and Michelle Anderson, and their husbands; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Melba and her husband moved to Albuquerque in 1941. She was a charter member of Crestview Baptist Church and later was an active member of Heights First Church of the Nazarene and Del Norte Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school for many years and loved playing hymns on the piano even into her 90's. Melba was very active in Bernalillo County Extension Club, and she won many awards for her sewing and cooking. Melba loved her family and church very much and will be greatly missed. The family appreciates the special and loving care given to Melba by Georgia and the staff of Marlor Manor, and Tammy from PHS Hospice. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 2, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Baptist Children's Home, P.O.
