Obituary for ROSENTHAL

Howard Edgar Rosenthal, 91, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2009. He was born in Stockton, CA in 1918. Howard was a World War II Veteran, serving in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He was a pioneer of early television, working as a Technical Director for WBKB in Chicago for 23 years. Howard relocated with his family to Albuquerque in 1970, going into business with his brother-in-law, Don Cobb to start Pleasuretime Soda. In 1973, he purchased Lucas Stationery, later re-named Pen & Pad, which is still owned by his son Victor. Howard enjoyed golfing, fishing, and music. He was a member of the New MexiChords Barbershop Quartet singers. He was a very outgoing, friendly, and gentle man, and will be sorely missed. Howard is survived by Evelyn, his wife of 58 years; his sons Steve, Rick, and Victor; his daughter, Janice; daughters-in-law Sara and Pam; grandchildren, Carrie, Brianne, Melissa, Alice, David, and Sara; great-granddaughter, Destiny; and his cousins Jack and Victor Reilly; and oh yeah, his favorite nephew Barry Austin from Texas. Rosary will be recited Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church with Mass following at 9:15 a.m. Private Inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be given in Howard's honor to the Presbyterian, Kaseman Hospice.
