Obituary for SKOLNICK

Nathan A. Skolnick, age 86, of Albuquerque, NM passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009. He was born on November 29, 1922 in New York to Isidore and Anna Skolnick. Nathan married Sylvia Simon in June 1945. She preceded him in death on April 13, 2007 after 62 years of marriage. Nathan and Sylvia were residents of Albuquerque since 1973. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the United States Army stationed in Europe. Following the war, he became the owner and operator of Arista Flag and Banner Company which was the third largest flag manufacturer in New York City in the early 60's. His company was the provider of the flag that was sold to NASA, which was placed on the moon on July 13, 1969. Most recently, Nathan was a greeter at Wal-Mart Neighborhood Grocery store on the Westside of Albuquerque. Nathan was formerly known as the "Toolman" at Sears Cottonwood Mall for six years. He had a passion for people, food, and his family and friends. Nathan never met a stranger, everybody loved him. He is survived by his son, Michael Skolnick and wife, Joyce, of Albuquerque; sister, Ida Fishbein and husband, Perry, of New York City. Per his request, cremation will take place and no formal Services will be held at this time. Nathan will be laid to rest with his wife, Sylvia, at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
