Obituary for BERNHARDT

Daryl T. Bernhardt, 77, long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009, following a long illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years and best friend, Polly; daughter, Linda; sons, Victor and his fiancee Patricia, Rick, and Randy and wife Belinda; grandchildren, Trinity, Michael, Alex Jordan, Scott and fiancee, Jennifer, and Jake and Erin; great-grandchildren, Evan, Anthony, Lexie, Piper, and Penny; sisters, Doris Morgan, Ora Hallaux, Anna Mae Atchison and husband Gene, Linda Bernhardt and Bob Burns; brothers, Owen Bernhardt and wife Teri, David Bernhardt and wife Susie, John Bernhardt and wife Lee; a very special aunt, Salena Lay and her three sons, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Daryl was preceded in death by his wonderful parents, Godfrey and Melinda Bernhardt; sisters, Rose Bethe and Arvis Weed and her husband Gar; two brothers, Chet and his wife Jean and Stanley Bernhardt, and brother-in-law, Joe Morgan. Daryl proudly served in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1974 at Luke AFB in Glendale, AZ. He was a member of Shrine of St. Bernadette and American Legion, Post 49, and the Air Force Sergeants Association. He and his family traveled the world during his time in the service. Daryl had a very outgoing personality and made many lasting friends throughout his life. He was adored by his wife, children, and grandchildren and will always be remembered as a man with a smile and a handshake.
