Ernest J. Sanchez, 92 of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009. He was born February 13, 1917 in Duran, NM to Juan B. and Louise U. Sanchez. He attended New Mexico State University and graduated with a Master's Degree in Agricultural Economy. Ernest worked for the New Mexico Department of Agriculture before joining the United States Army and serving in the European Theater in WW II and received a Purple Heart Commendation for his valor. Upon his return he went into Foreign Service as an Agricultural Economist. He spent 20 years in Latin America and four years in Amman, Jordan. Ernest is survived by his daughters, Oma Sandoval and Carla Remington; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Sefora Baca-Sanchez; four brothers; one sister; and one grandchild. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at French, Wyoming Chapel. Friends may visit French, Wyoming Chapel on Saturday, May 30, 2009, 9:00 a.m. to Service time. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Boys and Girls Club of America, 3333 Truman St. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
