Obituary for PERRY

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday May 29, 2009

Larissa Michele Marie Perry, 17, born Sunday, August 11, 1991, died from injuries due to a car accident on Friday, May 22, 2009. She graduated from Farmington High School on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. Larissa always had a smile on her face and touched the hearts of all who knew her. She was the pride and joy of her family and she will be missed terribly. She loved children and was planning on becoming a pediatrician. Larissa loved to travel, with a trip planned this week to London and Paris with her grandma Jane. She was an accomplished pianist, flutist and clarinetist. Larissa loved dance, volleyball, music, swimming, karate and spending time with friends and family. She always went her own way and set her sights high. Larissa always put together the most unique outfits and colors and they always looked so good on her, even when nobody else would think of it, she was a fashion butterfly. You could always find her with her big sunglasses, the biggest purse she could find, and her lanyard of keys, more than any janitor or businessman ever carried. She had so many kids that she took care of for so many years and absolutely loved all of them. Larissa was just beginning the second stage of her life and education, and all she dreamed about was helping and saving kids. She is survived by her parents, Michele and Ron Lockmiller, and David and Loreen Perry; brothers, David Perry, Steven Lockmiller and wife, Kirstin, Justen Lockmiller and wife, Sarah, and Justin Cumley; grandparents, Roy and Yvonne Crochet, David and Jane Perry, and Mary Thomas; aunts, Sandra Crumley, and Joella Thomas; uncles, Brian Crochet and wife, Rena, Christopher Crochet and wife, Donna, Stephen Chochet and wife, Nancy, Tim Callahan and wife, Debbie, John Lockmiller and wife, Elizabeth, and Jeff Thomas; cousins, Douglas, Mike, Michelle, Ian, Amy, David, Braeden, Corinne, Sarah, Charlie, Zachary, Gage, Justen Jr., and Faith; and so many more cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family. She is also survived by her best buds, Hillary Dalton, Heighley Sanchez and Ryan Lawler who always shared their love and happiness with her. All of her special friends from high school and college, she loved you all. Larissa was preceded in death by her cousin, Charlie Crumley, who always held a special place in her heart and they are together now, taking care of each other; great-grandmothers, Gladys Smith, Inez Crochet, Cleo Giles, and Madeleine Perry; great-grandfathers, Paul Perry, and Gerald Giles; great-uncles, Ian Smith and Peter Smith; uncle, Douglas Crumley; and her cousin, Elizabeth McKenna. We are sure that she has already organized a special day care or children's organization in heaven and will be there watching over all of us forever. Our hearts are filled with gratitude and we wish to thank Monica Leeming and Cecilia Talbie for comforting and staying with Larissa at the scene of the accident and to Dr. Carthart who worked on her at the scene and all the way to the hospital and to all the emergency and medical personnel who tried to save her. Godspeed Larissa, we love you. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2009, 11:00 a.m., at St. Johns Episcopal Church, 312 N. Orchard Avenue, Farmington, NM. In lieu of flowers, a special endowment has been established: The Larissa Perry Educational Endowment for Young Women as a lasting Memorial to Larissa.
