Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday May 29, 2009

Yolanda Theresa (Bianchi) Cook, 68, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, NM, left this earth to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, May 25, 2009. Yolanda is survived by her spouse of 35 years, Daniel William Cook, also of Albuquerque; three children, Dan Dunlap and wife, Lora Lee, of Billings, MT; Kelly Ann Dunlap, of Albuquerque, NM; Elaine Gonzalez and her husband, Luis, of Laredo, TX; nine grandchildren, Cari, Adam and Amanda Dunlap, Ryan, Benjamin and Christopher Dunlap-Parra, and Enrique, Abigail and John Gonzalez; sister, Carmen Lucia Bianchi-Walentowski and husband, Dave; nephew, Roger Bianchi and wife, Priscilla, and their children, Jacob and Savannah; niece, Jennifer Bianchi and her daughter, Francesca Bianchi; and her many dear friends, especially her special love of Eric Murphree. Yolanda is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Abigail Bianchi; brother, Joe Raymond Bianchi; and many aunts and uncles. Yolanda and Dan were partners in marriage as well as partners in business, actively running an engineering construction business for over 25 years which brought to market innovative methods and technologies to deal with our country's most pressing infrastructure challenges. Yolanda retired some ten years ago to devote her time and care to her many grandchildren she loved so dearly. She was active in several volunteer groups including St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Red Hatters, the Bookers, and Pope Joy Volunteers where she had many many friends. Yolanda was born and spent her early childhood years in San Antonio, NM, later attending Mount Carmel and thereafter graduating from Socorro High School. She loved attending her class reunions and stayed in touch with many others she befriended and loved in her youth and throughout her life's walk. She attended college at New Mexico State University bonding with her suite and roommates whom she held very dear to her heart. Her legacy to her family and others is expressed in her favorite saying, "I get high on people"---- She lived her life spreading friendship and joy fulfilling God's new commandment to love one another! Yolanda was a courageous and proud woman who took her strength from her Lord, her family and community. With the devoted attention and care from her husband Dan, she fought through her last months of her life with an illness she acquired during heart surgery over 44 years ago, still continuing to live every second of her life He granted. Through her many trials in life, which made her the very special woman we all loved so very much, Yolanda always kept her faith in God and was at total peace placing her life in His hands. A Rosary will be recited Thursday, May 28, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 4th Street NW, 87114, led by fellow Vincentians of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
