Elias Joseph Bereza, 80, went home to the Lord on Saturday, May 23, 2009 with his son David by his side. He is survived by his son David; his longtime companion Dorothy Trafton; his grandchildren Christopher and Stefanie; great-grandchildren Alicia and James. He was preceded in death by his two sons Warren and Steven Bereza. Mr. Bereza retired from the US Army after 22 years of service, having served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He retired from the US Postal Service with 20 years of service. He loved gardening and traveling, especially cruises. Elias was a kind and gentle soul and will be deeply missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 8, 2009, 9:00 a.m. at Shrine of St. Bernadette. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Albuquerque Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 331, Albuquerque 87103 or to the Salvation Army, 4301 Bryn Mawr Dr. N.E. Albuquerque 87107.
