Sam B. Dunlap, was born March 13, 1924 in Williamsport, PA, the son of Lewis and Mary Bathurst Dunlap, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's and PTS on May 19, 2009. He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Mary Gohl Dunlap; his two sons, G. Steven and Peter Craig Dunlap; and granddaughter, Victoria N. Dunlap. He attended the University of Pennsylvania; served in the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater, where he obtained rank of Staff Sergeant and medic's aid. He earned a Silver Star and Purple Heart and was honorably discharged, and moved to Albuquerque in 1945 to join his father who was in the Transportation Corps here. He then attended the University of New Mexico. In 1951 he founded New Mexico Employment Bureau, Inc. dba Executive Search, New Mexico's oldest private consulting firm, which he served as President until 2003. He served as Past President of New Mexico State Employment Agency Board, 1971-1978, enacted into law July, 1971 enforced New Mexico Employment Agency Law, First President and Founder of National Personnel Associates (NPA). He was awarded certifications by the following trade associations: American Institute of Employment Consultants (CEC) in 1960; National Employment Consultants (CPC) in 1970. He was past Secretary of American Institute of Employment Consultants and past member American Society of Personal Administration. He was Past Board Member of Sales Executives Association as well as Past Vice President and Board member of National Office Management Assn. Past Board Member of American Business Club. Sam was one of three founding members of Executive Association of Greater Albuquerque; (EAGA) started in 1959 and has held the following offices in that organization: Past President, Chairman of Nominating Committee and three terms Board of Directors, Chairman of Membership Committee. He has helped found and was active on the board of Western Bank in Albuquerque. His many Civic activities included Executive Committee of the Industrial Foundation of Albuquerque, Junior Chamber of Commerce, New Mexico Association of Commerce and Industry and Kiwanis. Also, past board member of Albuquerque Better Business Bureau, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Y.M.C.A., University of New Mexico's program for excellence, the Presidents Club. Sam's social activities included: Past President of New Mexico section Mercedes Benz Club of America, Past House Committee and Life Member of Four Hills Club. He was also past member of The One Hundred Club of New Mexico, Albuquerque Country Club, Southwest Yacht Club, San Diego, CA. Sam was a proud member of the following Masonic bodies: Blue Lodge #6 for more than 50 years, New Mexico Consistory, Santa Fe and York Rite bodies, Albuquerque and The Ballut Abyad Shrine where he served as Past Member of the Chanters, Greeters and Potentate's Aide in 1970. Sam and Mary retired on their 43 foot sailing yacht in San Diego and enjoyed sailing for many years. He taught his sons the love of boating, water skiing, fishing and camping. He always enjoyed a round of golf, talking with friends, and working in his business. Sam never lost his sense of humor and love of friends and family by whom he will be deeply missed.
