Darwin T. Pierce was born October 20, 1920 in Eastland County, TX. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. As a young boy, his family moved to west Texas where he attended Littlefield Schools and Texas Tech University before enlisting in the Navy CB's in 1941. He married his wife, Virginia Calvert in 1945 in Clovis, NM. Darwin And Virginia's only child, Pamela was welcomed in 1947. They moved to Carlsbad, NM in 1950 where he was the Maintenance Superintendent for the National Potash Mines, where he retired in 1980. Darwin and Virginia's only granddaughter, Shelly was born to Pam and her husband, Gary in 1971. After retirement, Darwin and Virginia moved to Bella Vista, AR. While in Arkansas, Darwin, spent most of his days on the golf course, a passion he would share with his granddaughter, Shelly. Darwin and Virginia moved to Albuquerque in 2005 to be near their daughter, granddaughter and three great-grandchildren. They attended Del Norte Baptist Church. Darwin is survived by his wife, Virginia; his daughter, Pamela; son-in-law, Don Duke; granddaughter, Shelly and her husband, Wil Collins; three great-grandchildren, Austin, Hannah and Taylor; and other family members and numerous close friends. Services will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at French - Wyoming Chapel. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends and family may visit French - Wyoming Chapel on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, you would support Cancer research or you desired charity.
