Obituary for GONZALEZ

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday May 19, 2009

Margaret Gonzalez. A journey across the ocean and two continents has ended. Margaret Gonzalez, 71, of Rio Rancho passed away May 11, 2009. She passed as the stoic warrior she had lived. She was born October 12, 1937 in Esslingen Germany to Alfred and Hildegard Pitteroff. Those who try to define her life by illness never knew the depth to how she savored life in her own way. She was a learned woman who was fluent in three languages and courageously left her homeland in search of love, the noblest journey of all. Her pragmatic approach to life masked a torrid passion for survival. She was a dualistic contradiction of realism and naive optimism. While drawing inward she always reached outward in a way that few could truly grasp. She understood human nature and defined both the good and bad in everything she encountered. She believed in her family and through her torrid evaluations she ebbed a unique and ubiquitous soul wrenching love. Her focus and concern was always on the loved ones she perpetually worried for. She truly believed in love. Love was why she came to America and love is what she will leave behind. She was courageous in her beliefs and struggles and that courage allowed her to fight through God's challenges when most would have succumbed to the adversity. She will be remembered as a woman, mother, grandmother, wife, friend and innocent embattled soldier who braved the unknown leaving everything familiar in search of passion and the maddening euphoria of love. May she rest with bravest souls as she watches over us all. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Hector Gonzalez. Son, Hector Gonzalez JR, wife Tonia and grandchildren Chris and Ashley Gonzalez. Daughter, Linda Strauss, husband Eric and grandchildren Eric Casper Ray and soon to be daughter. She was an avid swimmer and walker known for her kind soul. Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Daniels Family Funeral Services 4310 Sara Road, Rio Rancho, NM..
