Margaret Antoinette Delaney, age 93 went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 10, 2009 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born to Camillo and Pauline Garcia in Gallup, NM on May 10, 1916, and raised in Chinle, AZ. Margaret graduated with a business degree from Phoenix, AZ, lived in Chinle, AZ most of her life and helped manage Garcia's Canyon de Chelly Trading Post, a family business started by her father Camillo Garcia. After the untimely death of her father and brother Abel, Margaret became the sole proprietor of the family business until her retirement. She moved to Albuquerque after retirement with many friends and fond memories of her life on the Navajo Reservation. Despite a disability from polio, Margaret lived life to its fullest. She enjoyed traveling to foreign countries, painting, and needlepoint. Margaret is survived by her sisters, Alice Bischoff, and Cleo Giersch; nephews, Tom, Alan, and Paul Gallegos, David, Ben and John Giersch, John Garcia, David, and Patrick McGuire, Eddy, Tommy, Jerry, and David Bischoff; nieces, Mary Lou Widner, Teresa Giersch, Anita Dossey, Theresa Murry, Lorretta Bacaio, Georgianna Thomas, and Henrietta Gilmore. Margaret dearly loved the spouses and children of her many nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved cousins from Santa Fe and Gallup. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; father, Camillo Garcia; mother, Pauline Garcia; brother, Abel Garcia; sisters, Regina McGuire, and Mary Inez Barraza. The Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m., French Mortuary-Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 15, 2009, 9:00 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery, Gallup, NM. Friends may visit on Thursday, May 14, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until start of the Rosary at French - Wyoming Blvd. Chapel.
