Nancy Anna Jaqua, a longtime resident of Corrales, passed away Friday, May 8, 2009. She was 73. She was the daughter of John Arleigh and Nellmarie Huff and was raised in Boerne, Texas. In her early years in Boerne she discovered her lifelong love of horses which was to become an important part of her family. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin where she performed with the Texas Stars. Nancy will be remembered for her love of animals, her talents as a seamstress and as a teacher who taught her students not only classroom subjects but also the importance of honesty and accountability. By her example, she taught everyone around her the importance of "doing the right thing" and helping those who were in need. Nancy is survived by her husband, Edwin S. Jaqua, with whom she was to celebrate 50 years of marriage on June 6, 2009, son David A. Jaqua of Albuquerque, NM, daughter Suzanne M. Jaqua of Albuquerque, NM, brother Charles F. Huff and wife Mary of Los Alamos, NM, nephew John Huff and family of Tijeras, NM, niece Maria Gair and family of Denver, Colorado, and cousins Nancy Smith of Camden, SC and Susan Teegardin of Dallas, TX. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Boerne, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in her memory to the Animal Humane Assoc. of NM, 615 Virginia, SE, 87108.
