Laurie Ann Akin, 49, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, went home on Saturday, April 25, 2009. She is survived by her birth father Ralph Bongard; sister Susan Willecke and husband Lynn; brother John Bongard and wife Jodie; sister Diana Branstetter; sister Rhonda Prideaux; step-brother Ronald Akin; and her legal guardian Patricia Shattuck and husband Sam; many nieces; nephews; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother Margaret Akin. Laurie will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Memorial Rosary will be held on Friday, May 1, 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary West side Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. Prayer service will follow. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of New Mexico, 4015 Carlisle Blvd NE Unit E, Albuquerque, NM 87107.
