Obituary for MATHES

Mark Allen Mathes, a resident of Albuquerque since 1983, and founder of Water Resources, Inc. in New Mexico died on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the age of 54. Mark is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 19 1/2 years, Barbara; stepson, Scott Green of Rochester, NY; stepdaughter, Sheri Westgate (David); three granddaughters, Marisa and Tiffany both of Albuquerque and Christina, serving in the US Air Force. Mark's other surviving family members include his mother, Helen Georgia Mathes; a sister, Cheryl Kay Mathes; two brothers, Douglas Brien and Daryl Ray (Laurie B.) Mathes of Wichita, KS; two nephews, Matt and Kyle Mathes of Wichita; two nieces, Kelly Robinson of TN and Jordan Blackledge of NE; several great nieces and nephews. Last but not least, his favorite dog, Bo. His father, Durant (D) B. Mathes, a manufacturing jeweler in Wichita, KS, preceded Mark in death. The support from Mark's family, including uncles John Schaeffer of St. Augustine, FL, Al Schaeffer and wife Carol of Kansas City, MO, and aunt Helen (Mrs. Duane) Schaeffer of Shawnee, KS, has been immeasurable. Mark, an avid outdoorsman and fisherman, experienced the joy of a trusted relationship with close and personal friends and business associates. A celebration of Mark's life will be held at Mark and Barbara's home, 7413 Arvada NE. on Monday, April 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Mark had suggested that any memorials be made to the organization of the giver's choice.
