Obituary for BRENCHLEY

RICHARD L. BRENCHLEY, Lt Col. USMCR Ret., aged 80, passed away April 9, 2009. He was a resident of Indianapolis, IN for 33 years. He was born August 17, 1928 to John and Anna in Inglewood, CA. He received his B.A. from Redlands University and was a member of Kappa Sigma Sigma fraternity. Mr. Brenchley was a past member of Rotary and the Boy Scouts of America. He proudly served his country as a Marine. He retired as a Lt. Col. from the reserves in 1988, serving 42 years. He was employed by Transamerica Financial Services for 45 years, retiring in 1994. His first wife Jo preceded him in death, in 1990. Richard had a great love for his family and his hobbies included collecting stamps and other memorabilia as well as a great interest in genealogy and had traced his family tree back 15 generations. Mr. Brenchley leaves to cherish his memory, his dear wife Wilma of Indianapolis; brother George Russell of Brea, CA; children Kelly Hermann of Placitas, NM, John of Burke, VA, Patricia Wilkins and Mary Butler of Indianapolis. One of the greatest joys in his life was his seven grandchildren, Sean, Jessica, Justin, Cory, Ross, Rachael, and John W. Mr. Brenchley lived with his family in several NM communities over a 30-year period, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Farmington and Las Cruces. He always said his heart remained in the Land of Enchantment. Cremation has taken place and internment will take place at a later date. A Memorial Service was held April 12, 2009 at Soldiers Memorial Chapel at Christians United in Ft. Harrison, IN 46216.
