George Francis Kirk, 93, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at his family home. He was born November 7, 1915 in Mansfield OH, a son of Albert G. and Veronica Cherneski Kirk. He met Phyllis LeFeber while stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base. They married on February 6, 1943 in Albuquerque. She passed away October 24, 2004. He served in the European Theatre as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Corp during the 2nd World War and retired from Sandia Base in 1974. His passions included raising and training his man-trailing bloodhounds and playing golf. He is survived by one daughter and one son; Roxana (Roxy) Kirk of Albuquerque; Gregory Kirk of Madison, WI; one grandson, Brandon Kirk of Albuquerque; one brother and two sisters; Carl Kurek, Margaret Adsit, and Rita Eichler. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Friends and family may visit Monday, April 13, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Chapel. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
