Bernabe "Bernie" Garcia, 77, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sedillo, NM and retired after 30 years with Albuquerque Public Schools. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth and son, James. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ascension; children, Mary Martinez and husband, Severo, Eleanor Garcia and husband, Ben, Leroy Garcia and wife, Bettie Jean, Carol Griego and husband, Anastacio, Tina Vallejos and husband, Anthony, Bernadette Galloway and husband, David, Renee Padilla, Rebecca Cruz, and husband, Tony; 28 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; as well as other family and friends who loved him and will miss him. Memorial Services will be held at San Jose Parish on Monday, April 13, 2009 with Rosary to be recited at 9:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Paseo del Norte and Wyoming NE.
