John J. Speckman, 86, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2009. John was born in 1922 the son of John A. Speckman and Lucille Bird in Central Falls, Rhode Island. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. Among his many charitable activities, he was a very active member of the VFW Post 5890 of Rio Rancho. John is survived by his daughters, Theresa S. Wright of Bergenfield, NJ, and Kathryn A. Capone of Pomona, NY; and one son, John P. Speckman of Palm Harbor, FL; and five grandchildren. A Graveside Service for John will be held today, Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 1:30 p.m., at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Military Honors will be presented by the VFW Post 2951 of Santa Fe.
