Hillard Gerhardt, 82, a resident of New Mexico since 1961, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 25, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 59 and 1/2 years, Annie Gerhardt of Cedar Crest; grandchildren Johnathan Gerhardt and wife Magdalena, Hillari Straba, Lizzy Straba; and three great-grandchildren all of Albuquerque; and brothers Rudolph Gerhardt and Edgar Gerhardt and wife Dottie of Boonville MO. Mr. Gerhardt was preceded in death by his son Larry Gerhardt and daughter Shirley Straba. After retiring, Hillard continued to enjoy his passion for woodworking as a member of New Mexico Woodturners. Mr. Gerhardt was a long time member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. Services will be held Tuesday, March 31, at 1:00 PM at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 7834 Tennyson Dr. N.E. 87122. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro N.E. 87113. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, Monday, March 30, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
