Concepcion "Concha" Chavez, our beloved, age 73, a life-long resident of Tome, NM, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2009. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome. Concha was a devoted Catholic and was a passionate advocate for the rights of the unborn. She was a volunteer for the annual Tome Fiestas coordinating the bingo, an event she prepared for and looked forward to all year. Concha worked for the Los Lunas Public Schools and retired from the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School. She loved gardening, flowers, holidays and especially spending time with her family. Our beloved Nana was known for her giant popcorn balls she made and passed out at Halloween. Concha was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and Nana, who was dearly loved and cherished and will never be forgotten. All services will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, beginning with a public viewing on Tuesday, March 24, at 5:30 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 25, at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. with Father Jose Hernandez presiding.
