Obituary for BLACKBURN

Robert S. Blackburn, 81, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009. Robert was born September 6, 1927 the son of Wellington and Evadean Sevy Blackburn in Mesa, Arizona. He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1945 and joined the United States Navy. Robert was an aeronautical engineer for McDonnell-Douglas and a design draftsman for Sandia Labs until his retirement. He was proud of being a part of NASA's Gemini and Apollo projects. Robert was also an accomplished wood worker. He was preceded in death by two wives, Betty Popper and Lenna Blackburn; and one sister, Bonnie Davies in 2007. Robert is survived by two children, Larry Blackburn of Albuquerque, and Sheree Barnes and fiancee, David Bernstein of Albuquerque; three step-children, Kenneth Raver and wife, Debbie of Albuquerque, Greg Raver and wife, Judith of Albuquerque, and Dawna Raver-Armistead and husband, Mitch of Albuquerque; and six grandchildren. A Memorial Service for Robert will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with Reverend Warren Chapman officiating.
