Obituary for KNIGHT

Wilhelmine Obladen Knight went home to the Lord on Wednesday, February 11, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Hans; her sister, Marianna; and her grandson, Kenneth Schnoor. Wilhelmine is survived by her husband, Donald C. Knight of the family home in Albuquerque; her three children, son, Tommy and wife, Kathy, of Commerce, GA; daughter, Bonnie and husband Ken, of Albuquerque; and son, Don and wife, Elaine, of Colorado Springs, CO; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two nephews; one niece; and her much love dog, Monet. Wilhelmine was born the third child of Wilhelm Obladen and Anna Simon Obladen in Bad Godesburg, Germany on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8, 1927. After World War II, working as a German/American Translator, she came to the United States where she met and married on February 23rd, her beloved husband of 57 years, in San Francisco, CA. Wilhelmine dedicated her life to caring for her family and home. After her children were raised and out on their own she started her career in modeling which she continued until 1994. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Parish and a member of the Catholic Daughters Association. Wilhelmine left behind many wonderful friends and family who she loved and cherished. The Knight family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers, love and support during her illness. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 14, 2009, 12:00 noon, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE. Interment of cremated remains will follow at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, J.D. Schnoor, Don Knight, her godson, Aaron Garcia, family friends, Larry Garcia, Paul Gallegos and Darren Buie. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters, Catherine Knight, Alicia Gingrich and husband, Phil, great-nephews, Ryan Rouch, and Mattis and Marc Obladen.
