Obituary for LEYBA

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday February 08, 2009

Clyde Louis Leyba. Loved and admired, Clyde Louis Leyba, 78, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Clyde will be welcomed into heaven by his dad, Eledoro (Lolo); his mother, Adela (Della); brother, Fred; and son, Larry. He will be missed dearly by his granddaughter, Brigette Adell Parzych and husband, Kevin of Salt Lake City, UT; great-grandsons, Andy and Ben; and his most dear friend and partner, Karen Chavez and her family of Albuquerque. Karen and her family were a profound source of love and support for Clyde in his life. Before an accident that left Clyde handicapped for more than half of his life, he was an Electronics Technician for Sandia Laboratories, owned several businesses, and served in the US Navy. Clyde will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his strong will. He continued the 4th generation family business and, despite his physical struggles, his mind was as sharp and as willful as ever! With a half-paralyzed body and profound dysphasia, he still controlled his business with a rake in his one good hand and speaking in "Leyba-nese" to his employees and customers. We would like to give our thanks and utmost gratitude to Home Care Assistance and Heartland Hospice for the loving care and comfort they gave Clyde and his loved ones. Thank you Grandpa, for your wonderful humor, animated spirit, and your love that never ends. We love you. A private Graveside Service was held on Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Sunset Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will be dedicated to Clyde on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, 9:00 a.m., at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, 9502 4th St NW, 87114.
