Obituary for KIRSCHMAN

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday February 08, 2009

Joshua Kirschman, 29. Our family thanks all of you for your kind thoughts and words about Joshua and the over 450 friends and family who joined in the Celebration of Joshua's Life last Tuesday evening. We are sorry we did not get an opportunity to speak with each one of you that night. We thank all of you who gave donations, in Joshua's name, to Casa Esperanza. We thank Dawn, and the Sales And Catering staff of the Marriott Hotel on Louisiana Blvd, who were not only extremely professional but went far above and beyond in all areas to make this celebration very respectful to Joshua, whom you cared about. We thank Mike Powdrell for singing Joshua's song so beautifully to remind everyone if we could see Joshua now, we'd be very happy for him, although we will miss him for a long time. We thank Pastor Adams, of our Mountain Springs Fellowship Baptist Church, for your kind words and Spirit-filled message that Joshua knew where he was going, after his body died, without any doubt. We thank Joshua's doctors, and medical personnel and staff, at Presbyterian Healthcare Services, for the years you gave of yourselves to get to personally know him and to help ensure he had a quality of life. We thank Joshua's nurses, Maleri and Barbara for the time you gave him, talking with him, listening to him, and being a friend to him. We thank the Desert Ridge Middle School community for their love over the past 11 years. Although Joshua was terminally ill from birth, he never felt sorry for himself but lived life to the fullest, making the most of each day God gave him, making great memories, and never sweating the small stuff or any pain he was going through. Of his favorite movie quote "get busy living or get busy dying", Josh chose to get busy living. Although we will miss Joshua (his presence, humor, voice, idiosyncrasies, outlook on life, intelligence, friendship, companionship, and every other thing, no matter how small, that made Joshua who he was) until we see him again, we have no regrets for the years we had with him and are extremely thankful to God for the last 7 especially wonderful years, in addition to the 13 years Joshua lived past his 9th birthday, which was all the doctors gave him to live. Love Tammy and John (Joshua's Mommy and Daddy).
