Obituary for CARTER

William Richard "Rick" Carter, 56, a life-long resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, February 2, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Josie Carter; four children, Amber Zumwalt, Whitney Cockrill and husband, Kevin, William Carter, and Rosie Aragon; three grandchildren, Aaron, Kadance, and Mason; mother, Edith Craig; brothers, Phillip and Kenneth Carter; and numerous other relatives and friends. Rick is preceded in death by his father, Phillip Carter; and his brother, David Carter. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for actions "above and beyond the call of duty", the Bronze Star, and many other medals. Rick was an accomplished bridge player and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who was in need. He was a loving and giving husband, father, grandfather and son and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Graveside Service will be held Friday, February 6, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM, All who knew him are welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
