Rose Garcia, age 82, was born July 28, 1926 in Marquez, NM. She passed away January 31, 2009 in Albuquerque. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Delfinio; her daughter, Delfinia; her son, Michael and his wife Yvette and their daughter Chelsea; her grandson, Miquel and her son-in-law, Juan Garcia. She is survived by her children, Yolanda, Randy and his wife Yvonne, Desi, Dorothy, Leonard and his wife Debbie; her stepmother, Maria Marquez; three brothers, Jesus and his wife Mary, Reynaldo and his wife Trinnie and Steve; three sisters, Dora Lovato, Annie Gonzales and Mary Pruitt; two sisters-in-law, Felia Garcia and Jennie Garcia; one brother-in-law, Benny Cordova; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, as well as many other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. Rose was a Harvey Girl at the Alvarado Hotel, serving the troop trains. She was married in August 1944 and bid farewell to her husband for the first time as he was sent to Japan towards the end of WWII. Rose was an incredible mother and an excellent cook, teaching all of her children her culinary skills. She retired from Lovelace Medical Center and was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Services will be held at St. Joseph's on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 4000 St Joseph PL. NW, on Wednesday, February 4, 2009. A Rosary will be recited at 8:00 a.m., with the Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE. Pallbearers will be John Garcia, Randy Mark Garcia, Desi Garcia Jr., Angel Gomez, Lorena Martinez and Justin Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Garcia, Ann Dee Gonzales, Timothy Garcia, Lauren Garcia, Jacqueline Garcia, Cassandra Martinez, Tatianna Garcia and Evone Garcia.
