Obituary for PADILLA

Amado "Grandpy" Padilla, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, passed away at his granddaughter's home in Albuquerque on Thursday, January 29, 2009. Born in Pajaritos, Albuquerque, NM on May 12, 1918, Amado, 90, led a long and productive life in New Mexico. He was very proud of his service to his country, serving in the US Army from 1941- 1945 during WWII. As a gunner Sergeant First Class, he was stationed in Europe, European Transportation of Operations, the Asiatic Pacific Theater in Alaska, and then joined the National Guard. As a lifetime member of the VFW, he was the commander of Post 401 in 1979 and received a Seam Squirrel-Cootie Award from the VFW. He was also a lifetime member of the DAV and American Legion. A devout member of the Catholic Church, he served as head usher at Queen of Heaven Parish for over forty years. He is predeceased by his parents, Higinio and Sotela Padilla. He was a devoted husband for almost 50 years to his wife, Theresa P. Padilla, who passed away in 1998. He is survived by his loving daughter, Mary Ann Carrillo; grandchildren, Debbie and her husband, Tim Williams, Darla and her husband, Ted Trujillo, Diana Carrillo and her boyfriend, Mark Dickmeyer, Denise Carillo, Robert Carillo, David Carillo, and Phyllis and her husband, Gerald Mullohan; great-grandchildren, Marvin Becker, Jr., Christopher Carillo, Brian Amado Williams, Bobby Carrillo, Mitchell Carrillo, Teddy Trujillo, Scott Mullohan, and Joy Mullohan; great-great-grandchild, Ariana Becker; and his dog, Ricki. Services will be held at Queen of Heaven Parish, 5310 Claremont Ave, NE, Albuquerque, NM. A Rosary will be recited Monday, February 2, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
