Obituary for TIBBETTS

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Saturday January 17, 2009

George Tibbetts, 75, born in Rockland, MA, and longtime resident of Tijeras, passed away on January 7, 2009. George served aboard the USS Purdy during the Korean War. He was the Commander of American Legion Post 377 in California, and later a member of American Legion Post 49 in Albuquerque. George was the owner and operator of George's Auto Shop in Cedar Crest for many years. George was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back. He will be missed by his wife, Barbara Tibbetts of Tijeras: brother, Reggie Tibbetts and his wife, Dene of Bedias, TX; sisters-in-law, Billie Tibbetts, Sally Tibbetts, and Anna Tibbetts; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends; and maybe most of all by his dog, Mocha. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Vera Tibbetts; brothers, Robert (Bud) and wife, Ethel, Vernon Eugene, and Kenny W. Tibbetts; sisters, Geraldine MacCarvel and her husband, Mac, and Vera Infusino and husband, Frank. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to their "angel", Virginia Reynolds, for her care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of George's life will be held later this summer in Tijeras.
