Raymond R. Gallegos, of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at his home on January 8, 2009, surrounded by family. Raymond was loved and adored by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; parents Pete and Gloria; and brother's, Frankie and Pete Jr. He is survived by his loving daughters Consuelo Gallegos Horne of Albuquerque and her children Eric, Alan, and Jacquelyn; Anna Gallegos of Santa Fe; Marla Galownia and husband Mark and daughter Lyndsey, of Yuba City, CA; Felicia Gallegos, of Albuquerque; and Marquette Rubalcada and husband Joe, of Phoenix; his beloved sister Emerlinda DeBrine of Lemitar; and numerous nephews and nieces. Raymond was born on December 1, 1934 in Socorro, New Mexico. He attended Mt. Carmel Catholic School in Socorro and St. Mary's in Albuquerque, graduating from Socorro High School in 1952 as senior class President. He enlisted in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany, working as a dental assistant and earning the distinction of being the best "marksman" in his unit. Upon honorable discharge, he received a degree in Government and Agriculture from New Mexico State University. He married Eileen Padilla, with whom he had four daughters. An insurance agent, Raymond was heavily involved in public service and politics and elected to both the Socorro City Council and Socorro School Board. In 1979 he moved to Santa Fe to work for Governor Jerry Apodaca's administration in the Department of Health. He later sold commercial real estate in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. With his wife Patricia he moved to Lubbock, Texas in 1989 where he was employed by Scoggin-Dickey Chevrolet until his retirement in 2004. He moved to Albuquerque following the passing of his wife. He was a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation parish, where he enjoyed spending Wednesdays in prayer contemplation in the Holy Eucharist Adoration chapel. Raymond loved golf, swimming, politics and world affairs, cooking, listening to a variety of music and caring for family pets Duke, Fred, and Bennigan. Above all, Raymond loved spending time with his "girls." Rosary will be held Sunday, January 11, 2009 at 6 p.m. at French's Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE. Mass followed by brunch reception will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Annunciation, 2532 Vermont St. NE, on Monday, January 12 at 8:30 a.m. with Father Bennette Voorhies, Celebrant. Pallbearers are Eric Gallegos, Alan Horne, James Howell, Jr., and Earl, Trey and Joseph DeBrine. Honorary pallbearers are Peter DeBrine and Jimmy Naccaratto.
