Obituary for FRANKLIN

Jack Brown Franklin of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away quietly at home on December 21, 2008. He was born September 20, 1923 in Lima, Ohio, lived most of his life in Toledo, Ohio, and retired to Albuquerque in 1983. Jack served as an officer in the US Navy from July 1, 1943 to March 25, 1946. He married Ruth Herzberg at Hope Lutheran Church in Toledo in 1945, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 25, 2005. Jack had a long career with Prestolite Corporation, culminating in his becoming the president of the company. He went on to work for various parent companies, specifically Eltra Corporation and Allied Signal, as a group vice president. His academic achievements included a B.S. in mechanical engineering at Marquette University and a law degree from the University of Toledo. A 27-year resident of the Village of Ottawa Hills in Ohio, he was elected Judge of the Municipal Court there from 1968-1972. Jack was an avid golfer, birdwatcher, traveler, and reader. He is preceded in death by his wife Ruth, and sons Jeffrey and Steven. He is survived by his daughters Jan Franklin of New York and Susan Franklin of Indiana, his son Scott of Michigan, grandchildren Robin and Michael Franklin of Kentucky, and Cynthia, Teresa, and Debra Franklin of Michigan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A private family Burial Service will be held in Toledo, Ohio. It would be preferred by the family that donations and contributions be directed to the endowment fund initiated by Ruth and Jack that is dedicated to nursing education scholarships. Attn: Ruth H.
