Emilio L. Rambes, 84, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 6, 2009. Emilio is preceded in death by his beloved wife Clara; his sons Lawrence "Larry" A. Rambes and wife Mary Ann Rambes and Richard M. Rambes; brothers Lawerence, Max and sisters Mary, Tocha and Antonia. He is survived by his daughter Pearl A. Maldonado and his son Robert J. Rambes, his 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, his sister Linda "Mellie" "Auntie Sugar" Garcia her husband Louie and daughter Teresa "Tessie", his brothers Joe Rambes, Larry B. Rambes and wife Pauline. Emilio was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and drew as much joy from life as is humanly possible, above all he loved his family without end and greatly enjoyed time spent making and selling his redwood signs and upholstery. Emilio was a staunch patriot who was extremely proud of his sons service to their country. He was retired from the Whitmire Mill (sawmill), union # 2867 as well as from construction, local union # 16. A visitation will be held at the 8th Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary on Thursday, January 8, 2009 beginning at 5:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited by Deacon Edgar Torres, also at the 8th St. Chapel Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Dennis Garcia at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church in Old Town on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Interment following at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Larry "Jr." Rambes, Danny Maldonado, Anthony Maldonado, Ronnie Trujillo, Chris Baca and Ben Cruz. Honorary Pallbearer will be Isaiah S. Rambes.
