Obituary for KERR

Jack Loren Kerr, 86, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 and one-half years, Rita Kerr; daughters Janyce Preston and husband Rich of Albuquerque, Marsha Anderson and husband Don Anderson of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Douglas Preston of McMinnville, OR, Ethan Preston and wife Jennifer of Chicago, IL, Benjamin Preston of Webster, TX, Rebekah Preston of Albuquerque, Heidi Helgeson and husband Chad of San Antonio, TX, and Andrew Anderson and wife Julie of Euless, TX; great-grandchildren Kole Preston of McMinnville, OR, and John Kerr Helgeson, of San Antonio, TX; brother Vernon "Hank" Kerr and wife Barbara of Albuquerque; sisters Patricia Anderson of Albuquerque, Marilyn DeWitt and husband John, of Kirkland, NM, Shirley Phillips and husband Bill of Oregon, and Carol Bellor and husband Robert of Albuquerque; and brother-in-law Melvin Waite of Albuquerque. Mr. Kerr served in the Army Air Corp during WW II and was one of the first Flight Officers. Later, he shared his experiences with the Non-Commissioned Officers' Academy at Kirtland AFB. He worked as the Maintenance Supervisor at Manzano Base and Kirtland AFB Hospital. Jack was an avid fisherman and owned a cabin at El Vado, NM where he taught his grandchildren to fish. He was also a Cub Scout Leader. Cremation has taken place and mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Aquinas Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Aquinas Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
