Andrew "Sarge" Francis Howarth, 89, died peacefully Monday, January 5, 2009. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret; children, Karen, Kristine, Andrew and his wife Sheryl; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Andrew was born on September 27, 1919 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps/U.S. Air Force for 30 years, achieving the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was awarded the Joint Services Commendation Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal on three occasions. After retiring in Albuquerque, "Sarge" enjoyed countless hours with his good friends on the golf course. He will be greatly missed and always admired by those who knew him and loved him. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, Friday, January 9, 2009, 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. with full honors.
