Paul Richard Francis Scammon passed away on December 30, 2008, at home after a brief illness. Born November 29, 1915, in Brooklyn, NY, he lived his last years in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his seven siblings; his wife Lucy Baker Scammon; and his daughter Mary Catherine Patterson. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Scammon and partner Pamela Nelon of Hudson, ME. He was beloved by his four grandchildren: Stephen Patterson and wife Kelly of Albuquerque, NM, Mark Patterson and partner Kevin Byrne of the Netherlands, Vanessa Amorocho and husband Diego of Washington, NC and Chris Morere and wife Lisa of Charleston, SC; also seven great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Nathan Patterson, Diego, Caitlin and Dylan Amorocho, and Jasmyn and Jordan Morere. He had a lifelong joy of crossword puzzles and his long life allowed him 14 splendid years of golf after his retirement. He was a complex yet humble man, known for writing long letters and being exceptionally unassuming and generous with his time and modest treasure. Cremation has taken place, services are private.
