Ronald F. Slater, 76, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2008. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Elia "Ellie"; two brothers-in-law, Ernie Fresquez and Sam Fresquez, both of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Mary Louise and husband, Joseph Valdez of Albuquerque; and several nieces and nephews. Ron was born the only child to the late Harwood and Sylvia Slater in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. He graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School and attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Ron served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. Following his military duty, he began his career with the Kohler Company in Sheboygan Falls. He became a representative in the south and southwest areas for the company, retiring from Kohler after 32 years of service. He and Elia were married on June 2, 1962 in Albuquerque. He had been a Shriner for many years. After retirement, he and his wife began playing golf and traveled extensively across the world. Ron loved life and lived it to the fullest. Rosary will be recited for Ron on Sunday, January 4, 2009, 6:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Funeral services will be held for Ron on Monday, January 5, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at St. Chad's Episcopal Church, 7171 Tennyson St. NE. Entombment will follow at 1:30 p.m., at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
