Obituary for GUFFEY

Bruce Edwin Guffey, 82, a resident of NM since 1957, died December 2, 2008 at his home. He was born in Southland, Nebraska on November 7, 1926 to Edwin and Esther Guffey. Although he was born in Nebraska, Guffey was raised in El Paso, Texas where he joined the US Navy and served proudly during WWII. Upon his return he enrolled in the University of Nebraska and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Animal Husbandry. Guffey was a jack of all trades and entrepreneur for awhile until he went to work for Mountain Bell where he retired after 22 years of service in Roswell, Clovis, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque. Most importantly, Guffey was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Mary S. Guffey; eight children; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was a member of Toastmasters, an active political advocate, loved outdoor and water sports and lived to play golf. A celebration of Guffey's life will be Saturday, December 20, 2008 from 1-4 p.m. at the Desert Greens Golf Course, 10035 Country Club Lane NW (in Paradise Hills).
