Obituary for HARDING

Hilary Ernest "Ernie" Harding, 71, of Pecos, NM, joined our Heavenly Father and Our Lord and Savior on November 15, 2008 to guide his brothers and sisters into salvation. He was surrounded by family, friends, and relatives at the time of his departure. Ernest was born on September 7, 1937. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 52 years, Sylvia D. Harding; four dearly loved children, Kenneth Harding and wife, Felicia Vinita, of Belen, NM, Kathy Seckington and husband, Jack, of Pecos, NM, Keith Harding and wife, Julia, of Belen, NM, and Cecil Harding and wife, Jana, of Magdalena, NM; 11 adorable grandchildren, Destiny Baca, Robert Harding, Kenny Harding, Jr., Helena Sands, Billie Jo Sands, Arlene Harding, Kevin Harding, Kara Spears, Kassandra Gabaldon, Richard Harding and Cecil B. Harding; 12 great-grandchildren, Lino, Alejandro, Amadeus, Hunter, Jacob, Cheyenne, Nino, Marcos, Paris, Kindell, Wyatt, and Jada; two god children, Douglas Gonzales of Belen, NM, and Elaine Gonzales of Pecos, NM. He is also survived by his brother, Clyde Harding and wife, Ruth, of Ohio; sisters, Mary Jarvis and husband, Tom, of Indiana and Martha Rogers and husband, JC, of Indiana; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law, and numerous others that considered him a father, uncle, brother, and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Savonia Harding; father and mother-in-law, Tomas and Cecilia Gonzales; four children, Robert, Rodney, Kevin, and Joanie; as well as many other loved ones. Ernest served several years of duty in The United States Air Force, ran a successful building contractor business in New Mexico, and retired from the State of New Mexico after many years of work at the "Honor Farm" minimum security facility in Los Lunas, NM. Ernest loves the outdoors, and is a master farmer, carpenter, and sportsman. He worked hard, played intensely, and enjoyed being surrounded by his family, friends, and acquaintances. Surviving family and friends can carry his spirit with the knowledge, wisdom, strength, and will, as Ernest displayed, as he will always guide them. We are so blessed to have been touched by his presence, now and forever. A Rosary will be recited Monday, November 24, 2008 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe El Macho Mission, approximately 8.46 miles north of Pecos, NM on highway NM-63.
