Monico C. Abeyta, 86, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2008 surrounded by his family. Monico graduated from Albuquerque High School and later attended the University of New Mexico. He served in the Armed Forces during World War II and went on to the Reserves and retired in 1983. Monico enjoyed the outdoors, especially working the land and gardening. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Abeyta, and daughters, Lorraine Elizabeth and Rebecca Ann. Mr. Abeyta is survived by eight children, MaryAnn Abeyta-Behnke and husband, Donald of Virginia, Agnes Lewis and husband, Randel, Ralph Abeyta and wife, Anita, Yvonne Pacheco and husband, Steve, Frederick Abeyta, Leonard Abeyta and wife, Debbie, Marcelino Abeyta, and Andrea Abeyta, all of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his sister, Candelaria Guthrie of Texas; brother, Vicente Abeyta of Arizona; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church with the Rosary to be recited at 8:00 a.m. and the Mass to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at San Carlos Cemetery.
