Obituary for HEDRICK

James (Jim) L. Hedrick, 78, a resident of Bernalillo, NM passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 15, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Emily; children, Hazel Romero and Paul, and Sherri Royce; six grandchildren, Vanessa, Michelle, Andrea, Michael James, Jennifer, and Matthew; five great-grandchildren, Alcario, Daniel, Marissa, Felicia, and Analicia Emilia; daughter-in-law, Zada Hedrick; brother, Thomas Hedrick and wife, Loretta; sister-in-law, Tomiko Hedrick; and numerous other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hazel Hedrick; brother, John Hedrick; and sons, James Avery Hedrick and Bruce Dean Hedrick. He was born on August 14, 1930 in Hermosa, CO and served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge he moved to Albuquerque where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a proud member of Operating Engineers #953 from 1957 until his death. After his retirement, Jim and Emily moved to Bernalillo, NM where he loved to spend time with his beloved chows, Kando, Kelli and Pepper. He loved to work in his yard, grow his garden, and spend time with his family. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends may visit at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Tuesday, October 21, 2008 from 12:00 noon to Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery where Jim will be interred with his son, James Avery Hedrick. Pallbearers will be Martin Gallegos, John Hedrick, Shaun Hedrick, Oliver Garcia, Michael James Royce, and Matthew Royce.
