Obituary for CASTILLO

Jennie D. Castillo, age 74, and a longtime resident of Albuquerque, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2008, surrounded by her family. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. In 1987, Jennie served as a board member of the Albuquerque Centro Familiar de Salud Family Health Center. She traveled to Washington, DC and accomplished many good things for the organization. Jennie had a wonderful time. She enjoyed gardening, caring for inside plants in her home, as well as outside flowers in her yard. She also loved to cook and prepare meals for her loving family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Jennie is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Frank Castillo; two sons, Stephen and wife Dalila, Kenneth and wife Linda; two daughters, Nancy and husband Manuel, Cynthia and husband Chris; six grandchildren, Jesse Castillo, Angela Valenciana, Kenneth Eloy Castillo Jr., Manuel L. Lucero III, Sarah Velasquez and Timothy Lucero; four great grandchildren, Mariah Castillo, Kenneth Castillo III, Diego Valenciana and Timothy Diego Atencio-Lucero. She is also survived by six sisters, Carie Luna, Lucy Lebya, Sue Romero, Dolores Sanchez, Ruth Carillo and Vangie Hernandez and three brothers, Ray Duran, Carl Duran and Rudy Duran. Services will be held at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church in Old Town. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, October 20, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 12:00 noon. Burial of her cremated remains will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 12:00 noon at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW.
