Obituary for WARD

Glenn Ward, 78, of Albuquerque, passed away October 5, 2008. He was born in Sullivan, WV, in 1930. Glenn was a civil engineer, and designed several harbors along the California coast with the Army Corps of Engineers during the early part of his career. He served in the Army during the Korean War, later continuing his service in the Army Reserve, retiring with the rank of Major. Glenn built three Orthodox churches in two states--contributing not only money but also plans and hands-on building. He had his own surveying/engineering company for many years, now run by his daughter Sonya in Apex, NC. Glenn continued reviewing and signing off on building plans up until the end, even serving as a structural engineer for the reality show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition when it shot in Albuquerque last year. Glenn is survived by his beloved wife Angelean; five children, David, Panaiotis, Athena, Maria and Sonya; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Anthony, Paul, and Mark; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Christian. Glenn is also survived by his cherished siblings Lois, Emory, Miriam, Myrtle Dell, and Dale and was preceded in death by his siblings James, Paul, Louise, John, and Lowell. Glenn is also survived by a large extended family of many loving cousins, nephews, and nieces and had many friends in several states. He will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 308 High St SE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
