Jeanne Contarino known as Luigia Ada, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. She is preceded in death by her parents, Pasquale and Ermelinda Tabellario; and her sister, Elisa. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Dr. Angelo R. Contarino. They were married in Lawrence, MA at the Holy Rosary Church on November 17, 1951. She is also survived by daughters, Lisa Contarino and Carla Contarino; sons, Michael Contarino and David Contarino; sister, Elizabeth Gluck; daughters-in-law: Linda Marquette and Leena Karttunen; son-in-law, Andrew C. Krumpe; granddaughter, Isabella Contarino; grandsons, Peter Krumpe, David Contarino, and Luca Contarino; sister-in-law, Rosemarie Contarino Johnson, brother-in-law, Ronald Contarino. She was baptized Luigia Ada, and later given the name Jeanne. At confirmation, she selected the name, Jeanne Marie, as she was influenced by an order of French nuns. Jeanne had a Master's degree in Biology from Tufts University and a Masters degree in Early Childhood Development from Wheelock College. She taught biology prior to marrying and raising her four children. She returned to work as a parenting specialist after her children were grown. Jeanne had a love of children and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at the offices of Southwestern Title and Escrow, 236 Montezuma Ave., Santa Fe, on Friday, October 10, 2008 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Hospice Center, 1400 Chama Avenue, Santa Fe, NM 87505 or Saint Francis House, 39 Boylston St., Boston, MA 02116.
