Dorothy G. Birdsall, 88, died Tuesday, September 30, 2008, was lovingly cared for by the compassionate and capable staff of VistaCare hospice at Lovelace Downtown. Born in Cobden, IL on December 13, 1919, she married Murl Hubert Birdsall in 1937. After living in the Detroit area for many years, they moved with their two children to Albuquerque in 1949. After another move in 1968 to be near her family in Florida, where she resided for 37 years, Dorothy returned to Albuquerque in 2005 after the loss of her husband Murl. They were partners in life and in business. The Birdsalls were the heart and soul of the "Greatest Generation", surviving the Depression and WWII, living a hardworking and honorable life to the end. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Sidney Blakney; brothers, Louis, Web and Ernest Royster; and her adored granddaughter, Joy Birdsall. She leaves behind her son, Bill Birdsall and wife, Eiko; daughter Blake Russell; and grandsons, William Bart Birdsall, Mark and Gregory Russell; sister, Margaret Armstrong and husband, Jim; brother, Jack Blakney and wife, Gloria; sister-in-law, Zelma Royster; nephews, Ron Royster, wife, Kay, and their sons, Randy and Scott, and Tom Royster; as well as many other family and friends. Her final resting place will be beside her beloved husband in Casselberry, FL. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Macular Degeneration Foundation, Inc., P.O.
