Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday October 02, 2008

Clara B. Pearson, 98, a 55-year resident of Albuquerque, passed away after a long illness, on September 30, 2008. She is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and sisters; her first husband Benton Isaac Powell; her second husband Stanton Pearson; her son-in-law, Joe Kainz; and her grandson, Richard Kainz. Clara was born in Yates Center, KS, in 1910, and lived in Kansas where she worked for Beech Aircraft between 1944 and 1953. She moved to Albuquerque in 1953, where she worked at JC Penney for a short time, and lived as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her love and devotion for her family was perhaps outshined only by her love of gardening. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Kainz, and Phyllis Jane and Dick Goodrich; her grandchildren, Jack and Ginger Thompson, Brian and Johanna Thompson, Michael Goodrich, Marni Goodrich, and Brian and Juli Sanchez; great-grandchildren Courtney and Tom Bradley (of Washington), Aaron, Brandon and Paige Thompson, Katie, Joseph, and Marshall Thompson, and Leanne and Ryan Goodrich; and great-great-grandchildren Elena and Olivia Bradley (of Washington). She is also survived by her caregiver, Dawn Ames, who made the last months of her life full of comfort, spirit, and love. Our family would also like to thank Vista Care Hospice, for all their care and support during Clara's final months. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2008, at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, followed by interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery. We will miss you terribly, Grandma. You were the light of our lives. French Mortuary, Inc. 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE (505) 275-3500 www.frenchmortuary.com
