Obituary for SCHIFF

Duane Alan Schiff, born March 28, 1937 in Sidney, Ohio, died July 12, 2008. Preceded in death by his parents, Dayton Schiff and Dorothy Duke; step-father, Wylie Duke Sr.; and brother, Dale Schiff. He is survived by his wife, Dorothea (Dee) (Adcox) Schiff; sons, Dayton (Inez) and David (Becky) Schiff; grandchildren, Patricia Dooley, Deborah Schiff, Crystal Stone, Marcus Bacco, Alyssia Rocha, Dayton, Devan, Dylan and Dawson Schiff; great-grandchildren, Kirstyn Dooley and Kameron Kusler; sister, Mary Jo (Marvin) Dowdy; brother-in-law, Jerry (Tess) Adcox; sister-in-law, Sindy McLain; and many nieces and nephews. Duane lived in Dayton, OH before moving to Albuquerque where he attended Monte Vista Elementary, Washington Jr. High and Albuquerque High School. During those years, many friendships developed with Jon Brommeland of Ohio, Tom Arvis, Lief Isaacson, Clarence (Carol) Bass, Dale (Mary K) Gallaher, Don (Shirley) Nelson, Tom (Jeanne) Nethery and Lynn (Jeannie) Nethery. Duane joined the Marine Corp and was an Aviation Chief following graduation. Upon returning from the Marine Corp, Duane married Dee in 1960. Duane began his banking career in finance companies in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Oklahoma City and returned to Albuquerque to work for Citizens Bank in 1972. Duane joined KFCU in 1978 and served as VP in charge of lending until 1992, and was an officer of the Albuquerque Chapter of Credit Unions from 1981 through 1992. Duane and Dee established Schiff Credit Services and worked with Credit Unions throughout New Mexico from 1992 until 1999. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at New Beginnings Church of God, 3601 Montgomery NE, Albuquerque at 10:00 a.m. on September 16, 2008. Graveside Services will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association or one of your choice.
