Raquel "Nana Rachel" Ortega, 92, born in Veguita, NM and a long time resident of Albuquerque, NM died on September 2, 2008. She is preceded in death by her parents, Patrocinio and Sofia Lopez; husband, Tircio; sister Frances and brothers, Herman, Eutimio and Vidal Lopez. She is survived by her sister, Adelaida "Lala" Carrillo; sister-in-law, Cecilia Lopez; niece, Evelyn Montano and husband, Isidro; nephew, Benjamin Lopez and wife, Priscilla; four special great nieces, Patricia, Carolyn, Roberta and Rachel Lopez; great, great nephew, Joesyah (Nana's champion) Balderrama-Lopez; great-great niece, Stacy (Nana's Beautiful) Balderrama; great niece and nephew, Phillip and Emily Vigil; and Seve Campos whom she loved like her own great nephew. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Raquel was a longtime member of St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church. In her earlier years, Nana loved working in her garden and tending to her rose bushes and apricot tree. Memorial Rosary will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 4th and Mildred NW, followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery in Veguita, NM; .
