Obituary for HORGER

Lauren Horger, age 20, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 29, 2008 while attending Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. Lauren was on the Dean's List at NAU and was a 2006 graduate of Cibola High School in Albuquerque. She earned both academic and athletic soccer awards during her three varsity seasons at Cibola. Lauren was also a member of the 1987 age group Olympic Development Team and played on three NMYSA State Champion Soccer teams. She is survived by her parents, John and Terry Horger; her brother, Taylor; and sister, Amy and her husband Chris and their children Ashley and Caitlin; her grandparents, Chuck and Lucy Sargent; her aunts and their husbands, Ann Matey and Don Frodge, Mary Jane and Gary Holguin, Jean Sargent and Gene Ricupito, Carla and Rick Branda, and her cousins, Matt and Aaron Matey, Alicia Holguin, Nicole and Tasha Eldridge, Luciana and Sofia Branda. She was loved by all of her friends that she met over her lifetime, but especially by her long time boyfriend Greg Maher. A Memorial Service and a Celebration of her Life will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Calvary of Albuquerque on Osuna N.E. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the newly established Lauren A. Horger Soccer Foundation. The foundation will benefit underprivileged soccer players by providing grants and scholarships for deserving young players. Checks may be mailed to P.O. Box 1444, Corrales, NM 87048.
