Obituary for VALENCIA

Emilie C. "Leila" Valencia, 87, the Matriarch of the Valencia family, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on August 19, 2008, at home with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Valencia is survived by her children, Carmen Valencia, Rosanna Valencia, Carolyn Archuleta, Frank Valencia and wife Roberta, Roberta Sanchez and husband, Ernest; 15 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; many Godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Valencia was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Pablita Chacon; her husband, Bernard (Bennie); her son, Benny Jr.; her granddaughters, Bernadette Lucero and Lynette Valencia; her sisters, Susan Cerrato, JoAnn Pena and Lila Apodaca. Mrs. Valencia was a member of the Catholic Church and loved the ourdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and other activities. Her family celebrated her birthday, every year, with a matanza. Visitation will be Sunday, August 24, 2008, in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Final visitation will Monday in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Edwin Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona SW at 11:00 a.m., Father Bill Sanchez, presider. Interment will follow at Pajarito Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carlos and Vicente Ramirez, Edward and Frank Archuleta, Lorenzo Valencia and , Julian Barba. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Sanchez, Manuel Avila, Alfred Chavez, Bill and Frank Carrejo, Frank (Pancho) Pena, Robert Apodaca, Kenneth Pena, Chris Sanchez, Edward Gonzales, Michael Armijo, Little Leila Cardenas, Ernesto Lucero, Santana Lopez, Mario Armendariz and Jeremiah Greene Lucero.
