Obituary for WERNER

M. Philip Werner, 73, son of Genevieve and Mariano Werner, went to be with the Lord on August 11, 2008, surrounded by family and friends. He was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and a devoted brother. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maude Alice. Phil was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM. He leaves a daughter, Charity; a son, M. Philip Jr. and his wife, Jennifer; granddaughter, Samantha; sister, Mary Lou Cooper; sister-in-law, Penny; a niece, Genhel Mendenhall; and nephew, Lewis Werner. All Phil's life he loved people and was devoted to helping them. In return, he was much loved. Philip was a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish and the Knights of Columbus; and he served in the New Mexico "Enchilada " Air Force. For 40 years he was a member of Kiwanis International and served as Lt. Governor of Southwest District in 1996-97, and various offices in his years of service in the Kiwanis Club of Los Altos. He especially liked working with Special Olympics of New Mexico, and spent many hours at Kamp Kiwanis in Gallup, NM. He was a retired member of I.O.U.E. #953. He enjoyed working at the old Albuquerque Dukes Baseball games as ticket taker and being with all the folks. A visitation will begin at 6:30 p.m., on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services. A Rosary will be recited for Philip and will be held on August 17, 2008 at Daniels Family Funeral Chapel at 7:30 p.m. The Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont N.E. at 8:30 a.m. Following Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, there will be a reception at Our Lady of Annunciation-Magdalene Hall. Phil's family has requested in lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to Special Olympics of New Mexico or Kamp Kiwanis. Pallbearers will be John Burwinkle, Ray Benavidez, John Krapcha, Ken Lersten, Burt Snipes, Chuck Spinello, and Jerry Vigil.
